Shaped by Earth, Fire & Seven Generations
Each piece is handcrafted by a seventh-generation Uyghur earthenware artisan, carrying forward a tradition passed down through generations.
The clay is sourced from the natural riverbed of the Aksu River. Hand-shaped and decorated with natural mineral pigments and mineral glazes, each piece is then fired in a traditional wood-fired kiln at approximately 800°C for three days.
During firing, different minerals react naturally to heat, creating subtle variations in color, texture, and surface character. Because every firing unfolds differently, no two pieces are ever exactly alike. Each carries its own traces of earth, minerals, fire, and the artisan’s hands.
The patterns are rooted in traditional Uyghur ornamentation, shaped by a distinctive visual language of flowing forms, rhythmic compositions, and rich colors. Passed down through generations, these motifs preserve both the aesthetic character of Uyghur craftsmanship and traces of the eras in which they evolved.
From the clay of the Aksu River to the fire of the wood-fired kiln, and through the hands of a seventh-generation artisan, each piece carries more than a craft. It carries a living tradition — made by hand, shaped by the land, and brought into the present.
Every piece is one of a kind, because it is shaped by earth, fire, and human hands.
